Hideshi Takesako is a Japanese acupuncturist, moxibustionist and shiatsu practitioner based in Kewarra Beach, Cairns. He trained at Eisei Gakuen in Tokyo and has practised for more than thirty years, from Sydney's northern beaches to the Parrot Cay resort, Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean. He is AHPRA registered and treats patients in both English and Japanese.

Japanese acupuncture is known for its gentle approach, using finer needles and shallower insertions than other styles. This makes treatment comfortable for first-time patients and for anyone sensitive to needling. How sessions work

Japanese acupuncture works through subtle, precise stimulation. Hideshi uses very fine needles, typically 0.16 to 0.20mm, thinner than those used in Chinese acupuncture, inserted through a small guide tube so most patients feel little to nothing.

A typical session blends acupuncture, moxibustion (warming the acupoints with mugwort) and shiatsu massage, chosen to suit what each patient needs throughout the course of treatment. Diagnosis includes pulse reading and abdominal palpation, methods Japanese practitioners have refined over centuries.
